Kotkapura firing incident: SIT interrogates Sumedh Saini for 4 hours

Chandigarh: The SIT probing the Kotkapura firing incident today questioned former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini for four and a half hours.

ADGP LK Yadav heads the SIT. Saini had not complied with the two summons sent earlier citing engagements. He was questioned on various aspects related to the Kotkapura firing incident.

The investigation team is trying to find out if the police were wrong in firing on a mob protesting the series of sacrilege incidents in October 2015.

They are also investigating the angle that who ordered the shooting orders. “Saini has been questioned to ascertain the facts that weather the decision taken by the police and administrative officials on the spot or was the order of DGP Saini or the then chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, are being investigated,” a senior official said.
