Mundka fire tragedy kills 29, CM Kejriwal orders magisterial inquiry, compensation

New Delhi: At least 29 people were killed and 12 others sustained serious burn injuries when a fire broke out in a four-storey commercial building near the Mundka metro station in the western part of the national capital on Friday evening.

Police sources said many of the bodies are yet to be identified. On the other hand, NDRF is still conducting search operations there. According to police, 28 people have been reported missing.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Mundka fire incident and announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the deceased. The CM has also announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 each to the injured. A team of the forensic department has reached the spot for investigation.
