Four young Punjabis killed in Melbourne accident

Melbourne: In a fatal road accident, four Punjabi-origin youth died in Melbourne. The deceased have been identified as Harpal Singh of Sri Muktsar Sahib, Baljinder Singh and Kishan Singh of Tarn Taran and Bhupinder Kumar of Jalandhar. Harjinder Bhullar, who survived the accident, is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

During preliminary investigation, it was found that the car occupants did not wear seat belts and all these youths had come to Australia from Punjab on visitor visas.

The state police is investigating the accident from the angle of negligence. DNA samples have also been taken today to determine the identity of the bodies of the youth killed in the accident.

Social worker Phulwinderjit Singh Grewal said the families have decided to take the bodies to Punjab and paperwork has been initiated in this regard.

The documents of the vehicle involved in the accident were complete, so the government will release the fixed amount for the last rites.
