Kotkapura firing case: Court rejects plea of Badals on challan copy

Chandigarh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the sacrilege cases had already given a clean chit to the Sikh protesters during Kotkapura firing case in October 2015, while four top police officers have also been nominated.

Now, in this case former chief ministers Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal, received a major set back as the court has dismissed their pleas seeking copies of challan reports.

The court dismissed the application, directing the Badals to appear before it before handing over copies of the 7,000-page challan report.

Similarly, another top police officer Sukhmander Singh Mann has also moved applications in two different courts seeking anticipatory bail to avoid arrest and for copies of the challan report, which will come up for hearing on March 14.

The court had summoned former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, Sumedh Saini, Paramraj Umranangal, Amar Singh Chahal, Sukhmander Singh Mann, Charanjit Sharma and Gurdeep Singh Pandher for March 23 after the SIT submitted a 7,000-page challan report before judicial magistrate Ajaypal Singh court in Faridkot on February 24 last month.
