Arvind Kejriwal appears before CBI in Delhi Excise Policy case

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today appeared before the CBI for questioning in connection with the excise policy scam. Officials gave this information. The CBI had on Friday asked Kejriwal to appear before the probe team as a witness on April 16 to answer questions on the information gathered during the probe, the officials said.

Former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was arrested on February 26 in connection with the probe into the case. Kejriwal arrived at the CBI headquarters in his car at 11.10 am, where he was taken to the first floor office of the CBI’s anti-corruption wing.

Senior officials of the agency were present in the office to monitor the developments, the officials said. Officials said the CBI is likely to question the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief about the process of framing the excise policy and especially the file to be placed before the Delhi Cabinet, which has “not been traced”.

He was accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and other AAP leaders when he appeared before the CBI office.

Before appearing to CBI, Kejriwal said, “They (BJP) are very powerful and can send anyone to jail.” In a five-minute video message released on Twitter, Kejriwal said he will answer the CBI’s questions in the excise case truthfully and honestly as he has nothing to hide. “I have been summoned by the CBI today and I will give all the answers honestly,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said. These people are very powerful. They can send anyone to jail, whether the person has committed a crime or not.”

“Since yesterday, all the leaders have been shouting that Kejriwal should be arrested and I think the BJP has been ordered to arrest Kejriwal. If the BJP has given an order, then who is the CBI? The CBI is going to arrest me.”
