SGPC flays move over Rajasthan gurdwara panel, attacks Congress

Chandigarh: After Haryana, there is now a discussion to form a separate Rajasthan Sikh Gurdwara Committee (RSGC) in Rajasthan in the same line of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.

The move had been condemned by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami and he alleged that Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa along with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was trying to form a separate gurdwara committee in Rajasthan. He strongly condemned the Congress leader’s action and refrained from interfering in Sikh affairs.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that there has been a demand from the Sikhs of Rajasthan to form a separate Gurdwara Committee. “If the Supreme Court can recognise the formation of a separate committee on the demand of The Sikhs of Haryana, then why not in Rajasthan?”

He said that there is a great need for maintenance of gurdwaras in Rajasthan as well. For this, the demand of the Sikhs there is justified.

The dispute of a separate gurdwara committee is also going on in Haryana.

At the same time, the issue of a separate Gurdwara Committee in Haryana is heating up. The SGPC is opposing it, but there is no consensus among the Sikhs of Haryana in this matter. Therefore, the matter is getting complicated.

The Supreme Court has recognized the Separate Committee Act in Haryana. The SGPC has filed a review petition in the apex Court against this decision.
