“Wear masks, increase testing and genome sequencing”: says PM Modi chairing high-level meeting

New Delhi: Covid-19 is again causing havoc in China. In India too, four cases of the new sub-variant BF.7 of corona variant Omicron have been found. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting on Thursday.

Stating that Covid-19 is not over, PM Modi also stressed on the need for strong surveillance with a focus on increasing genome sequencing and testing. He has asked all people to wear masks.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in the high-level meeting, “Be fully prepared for covid.” He advised states to conduct audits to ensure preparedness of oxygen cylinders, PSA plants, ventilators and infrastructure.

Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, ICMR officials, civil aviation officials, NITI Aayog’s VK Paul and all other key stakeholders were present in the meeting. PM Modi attended the meeting virtually.

Elderly advised to get booster dose

Apart from this, the Modi appealed to the elderly and sick people to take booster doses. After the meeting, a note is likely to be issued advising states to emphasize on masks and social distancing and prevent crowding during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
