Village in Sangrur bans sale of tobacco products, violators to face Rs 5,000 fine

Sangrur: The panchayat, youth and gurdwara committee of Phulera village in Sangrur district have jointly banned the sale of all kind of tobacco, products in the village.

A resolution has been passed in writing by the village panchayat and the youth regarding this matter.

Disclosing this here today, Sarpanch Jaswinder Kaur and panchayat members said that due to the growing menace of drugs, the sale of tobacco, cigarettes and other products, at village shops has been banned from January 1, 2023. He said that any shopkeeper who violates this will be fined Rs 5000 and the shop will be closed for 7 days.

Apart from this, he said that legal action will also be taken against those who smoke in common places of the village and near the school.

This decision taken by panchayat and youth leaders is being highly appreciated by the common people.
