Vigilance Bureau registers corruption case against retired SMO for taking bribe Rs 1,15,000

Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign on Thursday, has registered a corruption case against a senior medical officer (SMO), Dr Satnam Singh, who was posted at civil hospital Majitha for demanding a bribe of Rs 1,15,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the accused SMO, resident of Friends Avenue, Amritsar, has been arrested after investigation of an online complaint lodged at the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption helpline.

Giving details he added that the complainant Malkiat Singh resident of village Athwal, Amritsar district informed that the above said SMO has demanded and accepted Rs 1,15,000 as a bribe for issuing him a medico legal report regarding a police case.

The spokesperson added that the VB has investigated the allegations levelled in complaint and registered a corruption case against the above mentioned SMO after finding him guilty for demanding and accepting a bribe money. In this regard the VB has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station Amritsar. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he added.
