Gurdaspur: In yet another instance of a dilapidated situation of employment in Punjab, an eight-month-old pregnant widow is forced to sell food at a stall in Gurdaspur.
Rajni’s husband and sole breadwinner of the house died around two months back. She is now looking after her 8-year-old daughter and in-laws.
She is a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) degree holder, however, unable to get any job, she decided to run her food business but due to paucity of funds, she chooses to sell ‘Rajma Chawal’ on a stall.
“After my husband’s death, there is no one to feed our family as my elderly father-in-law is also unable to work due to health issues. Following this, I decided to work to earn some money despite being pregnant,” said Rajni.
She appealed to local NGOs and social workers to extend a helping hand to her family in this grieving time.
