UK review warns against anti-India rhetoric, pro-Khalistan extremism

London: A review of the UK government’s counter-terrorism plan has described the radicalisation of British Muslims about Kashmir and the dangerous pro-Khalistan terrorism as a growing concern.

It stresses the need to reform policies to deal with Islamic extremism as a threat to the country. A review of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy, published this week, warned that Pakistan’s rhetoric on Kashmir is acting as a slur to inflame anti-India sentiments in the British Muslim community.

The review also warned against the propaganda being spread by a small number of pro-Khalistan groups operating in the UK. On the issue of pro-Khalistan extremism, the report said, “One should also be wary of the pro-Khalistan extremism emerging in the Sikh community in the UK.”

A small number of pro-Khalistan groups operating in the UK are spreading misinformation that the government is colluding with its counterpart in India to harass the Sikhs.

The propaganda of such groups glorifies the violence that took place during the pro-Khalistan movement in India. ’
