New Delhi: Students and faculty of Punjabi University here today began a sit-in demanding grants from the state government. The students closed the entry gate of the university and sat on a dharna.
All work on the campus has come to a standstill. The protest comes in protest against the state government not allocating funds as per its demands for the university in its budget for the upcoming financial year.
The students closed the entry gates of the university at 11 am. Joining the teaching and non-teaching staff, they sought grants for the university, which is facing a shortage of funds. They said they would stage an indefinite sit-in.
