Sikh organisations staged a sit-in protest against Ram Rahim’s satsang in Punjab

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) and other Sikh organisations today blocked the bus stand at Village Jalal on Bajakhana-Barnala road to protest against the virtual satsang being performed by the Dera Sacha Sauda chief at Dera Salabatpura, the main headquarters in Bathinda.

On this occasion, the workers of Sikh organizations gathered on this occasion are strongly opposing the increasing activities of Dera Sirsa and are shouting slogans against the government.

They alleged that the Dera Sacha Sauda chief was deliberately vitiating the atmosphere in Punjab. They said the Dera chief’s name had also cropped up in the case of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, but instead of taking any action against him, the Centre and the Punjab government are giving him police protection.

Sikh organizations took strong exception to the grant of parole to the Dera Sacha Sauda chief again and demanded that the government immediately cancel his parole.

“On the one hand, the Sikh community has been struggling for a long time for the release of the prisoners who have completed their sentences in jails and on the other hand, salt is being sprinkled on the wounds of the Sikhs by repeatedly granting parole to the Dera chief, who is serving sentences in serious cases, which the Sikh sangat will not tolerate at any cost,” they said.

In view of this protest, the administration has deployed a large number of police forces to avoid untoward incident.
