Run, fight…”: University to students amid news of shooter on campus

Norman: Several rounds of firing took place at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, USA. The college said this in a tweet on Saturday. The shooter has not been caught yet.

The University of Oklahoma said in a tweet, “Van Willett is an active shooter at the Oval. Take immediate action now. Run, hide, fight.”

Students have been advised to avoid the South Oval area and take shelter in a safe place. Visuals of local media reports showed several police and SWAT tactical vehicles outside the University of Oklahoma.

The incident comes days after two nine-year-old girls, a nine-year-old boy, two teachers and a school mentor were killed during a shooting at a school in Nashville.

School and college shootings are dangerously common in the United States.

According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 129 mass shootings so far this year. These are incidents in which four or more people have been shot or killed.
