ASI who shot dead wife, son and dog; commits suicide in Gurdaspur

Chandigarh: An assistant sub-inspector of Punjab Police shot dead his wife and young son in Bhumbali village, Gurdaspur. Hours after fleeing, the ASI, who came under the police cordon, opened fire and committed suicide.

One of his sons lives in Canada. The policeman was posted in Amritsar under the security of a senior officer. The killings were committed by ASI Bhupinder Singh of Bhumbali village under Police Station Tibbar in Gurdaspur district around 9.30 am today.

In the morning, when he had an argument with his wife and son over some issue, Bhupinder Singh opened fire on his son Balpreet Singh (18), when mother Baljit Kaur (42) came forward to save the son, he also fired bullets at him. After this, he did not even spare his pet dog and shot him dead too.
