Chandigarh: The Punjab government will start government procurement of paddy from October 1.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a meeting with mandi board officials to review the preparations for paddy procurement arrangements.
Around 191 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is expected to arrive this time, the Chief Minister said.
Mann said that the government is committed to lifting every grain of the farmers’ crop. This time the annadata will not be allowed to roam in the mandis.
