Punjab Finance Minister presents budget for 2023-24: Special focus on education, health, employment and agriculture

Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema presented the budget for the year 2023-24 on Friday. The budget is being presented on the first anniversary of the formation of the AAP government in Punjab.

This is the second paperless budget presented by the AAP government. Cheema made it clear that the focus of the budget was education, health, employment and agriculture.

He has proposed a budget of over Rs 1.96 lakh crore for employment generation, good financial year 2023-24.

Punjab’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for the financial year 2023-24 will be Rs 6,98,635 crore. The minister said the Punjab government would soon come out with a new agriculture policy for which a committee of experts has been formed.

The Crop Insurance Scheme will be launched soon on the proposal of the Punjab Government to allocate Rs 1000 crore for crop diversification. Highlighted the steps taken for building schools and common man clinics.

He also highlighted the steps to boost agricultural diversification by providing 300 units of electricity free of cost to domestic consumers and promoting moong cultivation.
