Punjab DGP among five IPS officers from Punjab selected for central deputation

Chandigarh: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the deployment of 20 IPS officers of the rank of DGP and 33 IPS officers of ADGP level to the Centre on deputation. The ACC has selected a total of 53 IPS officers for central appointments.

Five IPS officers of the rank of ADGP in Punjab, including 1992-batch acting DGP Gaurav Yadav, Anita Punj, SS Srivastava, Parveen Kumar Sinha, Amardeep Singh Rai and 33 IPS officers, have been selected for the post of Additional Director General.

The empanelment means that all the five officers Gaurav Yadav, SS Srivastava, A S Rai, PK Sinha, Anita Punj are now eligible to be appointed in central agencies such as Research and Analysis Wing, Central Bureau of Investigation, Intelligence Bureau, National Investigation Agency, National Security.

DGP to be changed again in Punjab

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav has been selected for the central post. Yadav has worked to curb gangster culture during his tenure.

At present, two officers of Punjab Police are already at the level of DGP at the Centre. Samant Goel, a 1984-batch Ips officer of Punjab cadre, heads the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Dinkar Gupta heads the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
