Chandigarh: President of India Droupadi Murmu is visiting Amritsar today. During this time, where she will pay obeisance at the Harmandir Sahib, she will also visit Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Temple and Shri Ramtirath Asthan.
Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu will be accorded a warm welcome by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on her arrival at the Sri Guru Ram Dass International Airport. The district administration has started preparations for her arrival, honour and security.
In order to ensure that the public does not face any kind of traffic problem during the visit of the President, for the convenience of the public, the traffic plan of Amritsar city has been prepared by the police, according to which the route from the airport to Hall Gate to Sri Darbar Sahib will remain closed from 12:00 pm to 01:00 pm tomorrow on 09-03-2023. The route will remain closed.
Therefore, traffic coming from Ajnala side to Amritsar will be diverted from Amritsar Rural Police, Adda Rajasansi, G.T. Road from Jalandhar wali side from Golden Gate to Valha/Verka bypass side, traffic coming from District Tarn Taran to Bridge Kot Mit Singh to Tara Bridge, Traffic coming from Gate Hakima/Jhabal Road side to Chonk Khazana/Lohgarh, Traffic coming to Ghee Mandi Chonk Traffic coming from Sultanwind Chonk will be diverted during the said period.
Heavy vehicles are also completely banned from entering the city during this period.
