Haryana government likely to cancel cases registered over farmers, Jat quota stirs

Chandigarh: The Haryana government is set to scrap police cases registered across the state during the 2016 Jat quota agitation and the 2020-21 farmers’ agitation. Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij has convened a meeting of police and administrative officials on December 6 to discuss the current status of the cases. This has been confirmed by Home Minister Anil Vij.

He said that all the officials have been instructed to bring with them a report of the cases registered during the Jat reservation agitation and the farmers’ agitation.

Vij said that the promises made by the state government to the leaders of ‘All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti’ and farmer organisations will be fulfilled. As many as 489 police cases were registered during the Jat agitation and 189 during the farmers’ agitation.
