CBI notice to former J&K governor Satyapal Malik in insurance case

New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has been summoned by the CBI. He has been asked to appear in the CBI office in related to two corruption cases worth Rs 2,200 crore related to the Kiru hydroelectric power project in Jammu and Kashmir.

Reacting to the development, Malik said the CBI has asked him to be present at the agency’s Akbar Road guest house here for “some clarifications”.

“I am going to Rajasthan, so I have given them the date from April 27 to 29, when I will be available,” he said.

Malik’s summons drew sharp reactions from the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Congress tweeted and said, “After all, PM Modi can’t control. Satya Pal Malik ji opened his eyes in front of the country. Now the CBI has summoned Malik ji. This was bound to happen. There will be one more thing… ‘Dock media’ will still remain silent, write it down.”

Aam Aadmi Party convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “The whole country is with you. You have shown a lot of courage in this period of fear, sir. He is a coward, hiding behind the CBI. Whenever there was a crisis in this great country, people like you fought it with your courage. He is illiterate, corrupt, traitor. He can’t compete with you. You go ahead sir. Proud of you.”
