Police crackdown not against him but against Sikh community, says fugitive Amritpal Singh

Chandigarh: Waris Punjab De chief and pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh has released a video of himself on social media on Wednesday amid Punjab Police’s raids to nab him.

In the video, he has criticised the Punjab government and the police, as well as urged to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to launch movement to ensure release of arrested Sikh youths.

In the video, Amritpal has appealed to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to call Sarbat Khalsa on Baisakhi. He has said that Sarbat Khalsa should be called to resolve the communal issues.

In the video released on social media, Amritpal Singh is seen wearing a black turban and shawl.

“If the Punjab government had the intention to arrest me, the police would have come to my house and I would have agreed to it,” Amritpal said in a video that has surfaced on social media.

According to sources, this video of Amritpal first appeared on a Punjabi YouTube channel in the UK. This YouTube channel is banned in India.
