Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Committee case: SGPC files review petition in Supreme Court: Dhami

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has filed a review petition against the Supreme Court’s decision in the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Committee (HSGMC) case.

Meanwhile, a general session has been convened on November 9 for the annual election of the SGPC president and other office-bearers. This was disclosed by SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami here today.

Earlier, he held a meeting of the Dharma Prachar Committee. Speaking to the media, Advocate Dhami said that a review petition has been filed in the Supreme Court by the SGPC against the supreme court’s decision to recognise the separate Gurdwara Committee Act in Haryana. Apart from the SGPC, a review petition has also been filed by SGPC’s Haryana member Harbhajan Singh Masana.

In the case of a separate committee in Haryana, a petition was earlier filed by Harbhajan Singh Masana, which was decided by the Supreme Court. He said that a meeting of Sikh scholars and Sikh lawyers in the same matter is being convened soon in the coming days.

The meeting will be held in Amritsar or Chandigarh, in which the next strategy in this matter will be chalked out after taking the opinion of experts.

He said that all these matters would also be discussed in public at the centenary celebrations of Shaheedi Saka Panja Sahib to be held on October 27 at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall of Darbar Sahib Group.

A five-member committee of lawyers has also been formed by the SGPC in the matter of the release of the detained Sikhs. Meanwhile, he has been making various claims of being the chairman of a separate committee in Haryana.

He asked the leaders to come to the Akal Takht with this matter and sit together and resolve the whole issue.

On the general session to elect the SGPC president and other office-bearers, he said the session has been convened on November 9, which will be held at Teja Singh Samundari Hall.
