Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former Punjab Chief Minister and former Union Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who passed away at a private hospital in SAS Nagar (Mohali) after a brief illness.
PM Modi said, “Extremely saddened by the passing away of Shri Parkash Singh Badal Ji. He was a colossal figure of Indian politics, and a remarkable statesman who contributed greatly to our nation. He worked tirelessly for the progress of Punjab and anchored the state through critical times.”
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in a condolence message, the Chief Minister recalled the services rendered by Badal as Punjab Chief Minister and Minister in the Union Cabinet. Bhagwant Mann said that the former Chief Minister was an able administrator and above all a fine human being with qualities of head and heart.
