Chandigarh: Assistant Superintendent Kamaljit Singh, posted in Patiala Jail in Punjab, has been suspended following allegations of corruption. One of the inmates has alleged that Kamaljit Singh was demanding money from him. Action was taken after investigation.
This is the same jail where Navjot Singh Sidhu is imprisoned. He is serving a one-year sentence in a road rage case here.
According to the information received, an inmate lodged in the jail alleged that the assistant superintendent was demanding money from him. He is being tortured for not paying money. Following the complaint, the jail authorities started an investigation. Assistant Superintendent Kamaljit Singh was found guilty in the investigation. After which the jail superintendent has suspended him while taking action against him.
Jail Additional Superintendent Harcharan Singh Gill said that Kamaljit Singh was suspended as soon as the order was received from the jail administration.
The entire matter has been investigated by senior officials of the prison department and he was suspended on the orders of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
