IND overcome Bracewell’s fighting 140, won the match by 12 runs

New Delhi: In the first ODI of the series played in Hyderabad, India defeated New Zealand by 12 runs. Chasing 350 runs in a very exciting match, the New Zealand team was all out for 337 runs. Michael Bracewell (140 runs) fought a tremendous battle and brought his team to this far but could not win.

The match ended with his wicket in the last over. Mohammed Siraj took four wickets for India. While Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each.

Earlier, India scored 349/8 in 50 overs while batting. For India, opener Shubman Gill scored a brilliant double century. Gill scored 208 off 149 balls and became the fifth Indian to score a double century.

He is also the youngest batsman in the world to cross the 200-run mark. Rohit Sharma was the second highest scorer of his team by scoring 34 runs. Henry Shipley and Daryl Mitchell took two wickets each for the Kiwi team.

Earlier, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first.
