Muslim community protests outside Jalandhar commissioner’s residence over demolition of mosque wall

Jalandhar: The Jalandhar Municipal Corporation (MC) on Tuesday night broke the wall of a mosque near the district sports officer’s office with a JCB.

As soon as the Muslim community came to know about the action of the municipal corporation, they expressed deep anguished. After this, people from the Muslim community gathered and staged a sit-in outside the house of Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Kaplish in Model Town and raised slogans.

DCP Jagmohan Singh reached the spot after getting information about the sit-in. He explained to the people of the Muslim community that he would talk to the authorities in the morning and find a solution to the issue.

After getting assurance, the people of the community ended the sit-in. People of the Muslim community said that attempts are being made to suppress their community, but they are not going to suppress.

They said authorities have hurt their religious sentiments. If no solution is found today and if the corporation does not build the wall, then they will protest and block the road.
