Chandigarh: Reacting sharply to the statement of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann that law and order situation has improved in state under the AAP government; Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill has slammed Mann for his blatant lie. In a statement issued today, Shergill said that it was shameful that despite numerous incidents of crime reported in Punjab ever since AAP government came to power, Mann is making false claims.
In a scathing attack on Chief Minister, Shergill said, “It is really shocking that despite the high profile murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala, ransom killing of a 20-year-old youth Harmandeep Singh hailing from Punjab’s Muktsar district, killings of famous Kabbadi players (Sandeep Singh “Nangal Ambiyan” and Dharminder Singh), rape of a 11-year-old girl in a moving car in Patiala, murder of anti-drug activist Ram Gopal in Jalandhar, death of Police constable Mandeep Singh in a shoot out in Nakodar (Jalandhar), two separate RPG attacks on the police establishments, besides several other incidents of crime, Mann has the audacity to claim that law and order in Punjab has improved.”
Squarely blaming the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his “abject failure” to maintain law and order in the border state of Punjab, Shergill deteriorating law and order in the state makes it amply clear that Punjab and Punjabis are not at all safe under the AAP government. Expressing serious concern over the lawlessness prevailing in the state, BJP Spokesperson said that law and order machinery in the state has collapsed. “It is sheer incompetence on the part of Mann, who also holds the Home Affairs portfolio to ensure the safeguard of life and property of people of the Punjab”, he said in a hard hitting attack on the AAP Government.
