Himachal Pradesh: With six more bodies recovered on Saturday, the death toll Nugalsari landslide in Kinnaur district has risen to 23.
ITBP Deputy Commandant Dharmender Thakur said that the wreckage of the HRTC bus had been spotted and the NDRF is trying to reach the spot. 50 others are feared buried under the debris and operation is underway.
“It has been frightening and difficult moments for the administration as mountains are still sliding. We have made different teams including one on top, between and bottom to carry out the operation and inform others if in case of a slide,” Thakur said.
It is a dreadful time for families of those feared trapped in the debris, every passing hour is full of anxiety uncertainty about the safety of their loved ones. Therefore, relatives have also started rushing to the spot.
The tragedy struck around 12.30 pm. Several vehicles, including an HRTC bus, a truck and some other vehicles were hit by the landslide. The bus was on its way from Reckong Peo in Kinnaur to Shimla.
Meanwhile, as many as 253 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in the state and the highest number of casualties was reported from Shimla 38 followed by Kinnaur 30 this year.
