Johnson & Johnson gets single-dose Covid vaccine approval in India

New Delhi:  Indian authorities on Saturday approved Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine’s use for emergency use here against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
The American pharmaceuticals company, in a statement said that Johnson & Johnson Pvt on August 5 had applied to the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) on August 5 seeking emergency use approval (EUA) for its single-shot vaccine.
Considering the imminent third wave of COVID-19 in the country, the CDSCO approval comes as an important milestone for India. Following this, the Union government has now granted emergency use approval to a total five covid vaccines.
Presently, India is administering the Covishield, Covaxin, and Sputnik V vaccines across the country.
Beside this, Mumbai-based pharmaceuticals company Cipla has also been granted approval to import the Moderna vaccine, which has shown 95 per cent efficacy against the coronavirus disease.
