New Delhi: Amid a controversy over the proposal to wear special helmets for Sikh soldiers, the Centre today said it is mandatory for soldiers deployed at sensitive places to wear these helmets for their protection. He said all pilots and jawans of fighter jets and helicopters are deployed in areas where there is a possibility of enemy attacks or they are guarding important places.
Therefore, it is mandatory to wear bullet proof helmets for their personal safety. Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt said this in a written reply to a question asked by Patiala MP Preneet Kaur in the Lok Sabha today. He had questioned whether the government proposes to make it mandatory for Sikh soldiers to wear special helmets.
