India’s Neetu and Amit Panghal clinch gold in boxing, gold and silver in men’s triple jump

Birmingham: Indian boxer Neetu Ganghas won the gold medal in the women’s (45-48 kg) category of the Commonwealth Games by defeating the host England boxer 5-0.

Meanwhile, Indian boxer Amit Panghal won the gold medal in the men’s flyweight (48-51 kg) category by defeating England’s McDonald’s 5-0.

Meanwhile, in the men’s triple jump event, India’s Eldhose Paul and Abdulla Aboobacker won the gold and silver, respectively.

India’s Annu Rani won a bronze medal in the women’s javelin throw event. Likewise, India’s Sandeep Kumar won the bronze medal in the men’s 10,000m race walk.

Earlier, Olympic medallist P V Sindhu reached the women’s singles final for the second time in a row at the Commonwealth Games. The 27-year-old Indian defeated Singapore’s Yeo Jia Min 21-19, 21-17 in a match that lasted 49 minutes.
