San Francisco: Hundreds of people attended the last rites of four members of an Indian-origin Sikh family. Four members of a Sikh family in California were abducted and murdered earlier this month.
An eight-month-old girl was also among the dead. The ceremony for the last rites was held on Saturday in the city of Tarlock, California.

Jasdeep Singh (36), his wife Jasleen Kaur (27), their daughter Aruhi Dhari (eight months) and amandeep Singh (39), the son-in-law of the girl, were abducted and later murdered by the accused Jesus Salgado on October 3.
The last rites were performed as per Sikh tradition. The Sikh family’s background belongs to Harsi village of Hoshiarpur. The family has a trucking business here.
Stanislaus County Supervisor Mani Grewal said, “We are here to express solidarity with the family, he is not alone. Media quoted Mani Grewal as saying, “Two persons have committed a heinous crime. Our community is much better than them. Sanjeev Tiwari, a friend of the family, said, “I don’t know how the family will be able to recover from this trauma. It is much more difficult. We are here to support the family. ’
“Only family members are allowed to come to The Allen Mortuary, but at the last rites of the Sikh family on Saturday, community members were allowed to come here to express solidarity with the family,” the report said.
Merced County Chief Deputy District Attorney Matthew Sarato said the suspect, Jesus Salgado, did not plead guilty in court on Thursday. Salgado will be produced in court again next month.
