‘Worst Home Secretary in history’, say UK MPs to Priti Patel after she resigns

London: UK Home Secretary Priti Patel resigned from her post on Monday. She resigned from the cabinet in a letter to current Prime Minister Boris Johnson. She said she would support Prime Minister-designate Liz Truss in Parliament. She was a close associate of Johnson and there was widespread apprehension that the senior Indian-origin minister would not find a place in the top team of the truss chosen as prime minister.

“I congratulate Liz Truss on being elected as the new leader (of the Conservative Party).” As our new Prime Minister, I will continue to extend my support to her.”

Following her resignation, many MPs attacked Patel.

Liverpool Wavertree MP Paula Barker said that Priti Patel will go down as the worst Home Secretary in history. Her tenure has been plagued by allegations of bullying and spiteful policies which have made our country a pariah on the fringes of international law. Sadly, I expect more of the same from her successor.

Zarah Sultana, Labour Party MP for Coventry South said that Good riddance @PritiPatel. You were an unspeakably cruel Home Secretary and won’t be missed by anyone with a shred of decency.
