“Humiliated” by health minister, VC Dr Raj Bahadur resigns, PCMSA condemns unceremonious treatment

Chandigarh: A day after humiliated by Health Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra, Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Dr Raj Bahadur, on Saturday resigned from his post.

He has sent his resignation letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Meanwhile, the the PCMS Association has strongly condemned the unceremonious treatment meted out to the BFUHS VC by the Health Minister.

The PCMSA State President Dr.Akhil Sarin said, “The PCMSA strongly condemns the unceremonious treatment meted out to the VC by the HM. Whatever the reason, the way the VC was maltreated, is deplorable. Such blatant disrespect for a senior health functionary is appalling, to say the least. The face-off has actually led to the State losing its only Spine Surgeon”.

Dr.Kanwaljit Bajwa, State Senior Vice President PCMSA said, “We express deep resentment over his unfortunate incident. Public shaming of a senior doctor on systemic issues is strongly condemnable. Instead of pragmatically addressing the issues of meagre funds allocation, medicine shortages, acute staff crunch and grossly inadequate infrastructure, the Government is busy hiding its indequecies by publicly mauling the public health officials in the garb of surprise checkings. The escapist attitude of the Government is truly uncalled for”.
