Former CM Charanjit Channi apologises for wearing cap on turban

Chandigarh: A photo of former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi went viral. Channi was felicitated during a meeting with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu yesterday.

During this time, he wore a Himachali cap on top of his turban. After this, Channi came under the target of Sikh organizations. The SGPC has also raised objections and sought apology from Channi.

Following this, he wrote a letter to Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht and accepted his mistake. Channi said that it happened by mistake. In fact, in Himachal Pradesh, when someone is honored, a Himachali cap is worn on his head. However, he soon removed the cap.

He assured that he would appear before The Akal Takht and tender a written apology to the Jathedar.

He also announced to organise a Sahaj Path at his house.
