Covovax booster dose to get approved as booster dose next week days, know how effective it is on Omicron

New Delhi: The corona situation in India is currently normal. India is also on alert mode regarding the increase in corona cases in many countries of the world.

In view of this, the focus is once again on vaccination across the country. The good news is that the Covovax vaccine may be approved as a booster dose next week.

An expert panel of India’s drug regulator may next week consider using Covovax, a Covid-19 vaccine developed by the Serum Institute of India, as a booster dose.

A central government official said Covovax has already been approved for restricted use and its use as a booster is likely to be discussed in a meeting next week.

Chief Executive Officer Adar Poonawalla himself had said during an event in Pune that the Covovax vaccine may be approved soon. This vaccine works very well against the Omicron variant of coronavirus as compared to Covishield. He said that the central government has enough stock of vaccines for supply.

On December 28, 2021, the Drugs Controller General of India approved Covovax for emergency use among youth. After this, it became the fourth vaccine to be approved for emergency use for people over 12 years of age.

It is a protein subunit vaccine that will preserve immunity. Poonawalla also said that amid the havoc of Corona, everyone is looking at India with hope.
