BJP slams Digvijaya Singh’s remarks, asks Congress to clarify stand on country’s security

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reacted sharply to Digvijay Singh’s statement in which this veteran Congress leader questioned the surgical strike.

BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Congress should clarify its stand on issues related to the country’s security.

He said that this is very shameful and unfortunate, Congress party leaders should apologize.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prasad had said that Digvijay Singh was the one who raised questions on the Batla House encounter. Digvijay is not an ordinary leader, he has been the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for 10 years and has been general secretary.

Significantly, Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Monday questioned the ‘surgical strike’ and accused the government of lying on the issue. Addressing a gathering during the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Jammu and Kashmir, Singh had alleged that the government had not agreed to its request to airlift central reserve police force (CRPF) personnel from Srinagar to Delhi and that 40 soldiers had to sacrifice their lives in a 2019 terror attack in Pulwama.

Meanwhile, Congress has distanced itself from Digvijaya Singh’s statement, calling it his personal opinion. Reacting to this statement, Rahul Gandhi said that he does not agree with it.

“Whatever Digvijaya Singh said is not the Congress’ view,” Gandhi said.
