Chandigarh: Papalpreet Singh, a close aide of radical preacher Amritpal Singh, was today shifted to a jail in Assam’s Dibrugarh. Papalpreet Singh, stated to be Amritpal’s advisor, was arrested in Amritsar district on Monday and taken into custody under the National Security Act.
A five-member team led by DSP Sanjeev Kumar along with Papalpreet Singh left the city for Dibrugarh jail in Assam today. They took off from Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport here.
Earlier, In 2015, during the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) government, Papalpreet was booked for sedition for his alleged links with the ISI. In 2017, Papalpreet joined Simranjit Singh Mann’s Shiromani Akali Dal but left the party after nine months.
The investigating agency had received information that Papalpreet also ran a Khalistan propaganda website.
