After Ajnala clash, Amritpal Singh meets Akal Takht Jathedar in Amritsar

Chandigarh: Amritpal Singh, head of Waris Punjab today met the Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple today.

In a brief interaction with the media, he said he was a Punjabi and Punjab was the land for which the ancestors had given their blood. So why should we leave Punjab, if anyone has any objection, he should leave Punjab, he said.

He had recently denied being an Indian citizen, sparking a controversy over what he was doing in this country if he was not an Indian. On the violation of dignity by taking the holy saroop along with him during the incident at Police Station Ajnala, he said that he is right in principle and is ready for every punishment if someone proves him wrong.

A 15-member committee has also been formed by the Akal Takht to formulate a policy on the issue of carrying the holy form to the places of dharnas, demonstrations and quarrels.

He said that if he is summoned by the Akal Takht in this case, he will appear at the Akal Takht, he is not a fugitive from the Akal Takht but is dedicated to the Akal Takht.

On bringing weapons to Sri Harmandir Sahib, he said that there is a principle of Miri-Piri among the Sikhs. On the threat to life, he said all these are being said by the agencies and there is a threat from them. He said that it is easy to get threats on the path he has taken.
