Sources confirmed that the CBI had in July last year asked the state chief secretary to probe the role of the former speaker, but the matter was hushed up as his party was in power.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that several crushers in the area of Ropar/Rupnagar were run by close relatives of Rana KP and were earning lakhs of crores of rupees as protection money. According to sources, Rana KP Singh also gets a lot of commission from this income.
