Davos: A large gathering of world leaders will begin in the snowy swiss city of Davos with thousands of delegates, including nearly 100 from India, discussing “cooperation in a fractured world”.
The last annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) had to be held in May last year, a departure from the usual practice.
The Davos summit is usually held in January but could not take place due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Earlier, the 2021 meeting was also held online.
The health crisis, along with some pandemic restrictions, the continuing war in Ukraine and the economic side effects of the geopolitical situation, have made this Davos meeting quite interesting.
Around 50 heads of government and heads of state are expected to attend the meeting, beginning Monday.
Four Union ministers – Mansukh Mandaviya, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Smriti Irani and R K Singh – besides Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will also attend the event. Many officials and business entrepreneurs will also be present.
