Two aides arrested in connection with Sonali Phogat’s death

Panaji: The Goa Police on Thursday arrested two persons and registered a case of murder against them in connection with the death of BJP leader and Haryana resident Sonali Phogat (42). According to the police, the accused include Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder. Both are said to be associates of Sonali Phogat. Two days after the death of Sonali Phogat, the post-mortem was conducted today with the consent of the family.

According to sources, the post-mortem report has several injury marks on Phogat’s body. Goa DGP Jaspal Singh is investigating the case. The family had put a condition of videography of the postmortem process.

Meanwhile, the Goa Police has registered a murder case against two of BJP leader Sonali Phogat’s associates soon after conducting a post-mortem of her body.

Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been added to the case related to the death of the 42-year-old leader, a senior police officer said here. Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder Vasi have been named as accused in the case.

The post-mortem was earlier scheduled to be conducted at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Wednesday but Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka claimed that his sister was murdered by two of his accomplices. Dhaka had said the family would allow the post-mortem only after the Goa police registered a case against the two.
