What is Lipoedema? How this ‘dangerous disease’ affects women, know the symptoms

New Delhi: Lipoedema is a disease that occurs due to the accumulation of excess fat in your thighs, legs and hips. This is a very dangerous disease, which people often do not understand. A person suffering from Lipoedema weighs very much. In other words, this disease is mostly seen in obese people.

Often people try to ignore their increased weight by calling it obesity, but they are unaware that excessive fat accumulation in specific places can also be the cause of lipoedema. There have been many cases in which patients initially considered this disease as just obesity and ignored the severity of the disease by considering it obesity.

Lipoedema disease is caused by the accumulation of fat in the body. In this, folds are formed in the skin, which can prove to be very painful after a time.

According to WebMD, lipoedema affects more than 11 percent of women worldwide. It is a very painful and incurable disease, which is especially due to hormonal imbalance.

This disease affects only the lower part of the body. Health experts believe that this disease usually affects women and arises slowly in four stages.

The situation continues to worsen

Doctors believe that the condition worsens over time, because fat keeps accumulating. Fat cells block cells in the lymphatic system. Prevents the lymphatic system from expelling lymph fluid, which can lead to the formation of fluid.

Many doctors around the world say that more than 60% of people with lipoedema also have this disease in family members, so it can be assumed that there may be a genetic link to this disease.

According to the National Library of Medicine, doctors classify this disease into 4 different types:

Type 1- Accumulation of fat between the navel and hips. It often covers the pelvis and hip.

Type 2- Accumulation of fat around the pelvis and under the knees.

Type 3- Fat starts from the pelvis and goes to the ankles. A person with this condition may have fat deposits in the ankle.
