What Captain could not do in his tenure, CM Channi did in just four months: Rahul Gandhi

Patiala: Lauding the working style of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that CM Channi had taken commendable pro-people decisions in just four months which Captain Amarinder Singh could not achieve in his entire tenure as Punjab CM.

“Channi hails from a poor family, he knew the problems faced by common people and he, as your CM, will ensure holistic development of the Punjab,” Gandhi said while addressing a rally at Rajpura in this district in favour of sitting Rajpura MLA Hardyal Kambhoj.

Gandhi said that CM Channi has risen from a councillor to a CM only because of his pro-people approach and a spirit to uplift the Punjab and its people, he said.

Launching scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi said that PM is working towards ruining the country and Modi’s policies are very fatal for the country which will divide the country.

“BJP should stop dreaming of assuming power in Punjab because Punjabis are a brave community. They will never be able to forget the martyrdom of 700 farmers during their struggle against three black farm laws enacted by BJP government and Punjabis will teach them a lesson,” he said.

He said the BJP is the biggest threat to the minorities as Modi is concerned only about the rich and not the country.

Citing that Aam Aadmi Party is in cahoots with BJP, Gandhi said that AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Modi are two sides of the same coin, whose aim is only to divide Punjab and Punjabis.

Lashing out at former Congress CM Captain, Gandhi said, Captain Amarinder was working hand in gloves with BJP when he was Congress CM for four and half year.” When I came to know about this, I removed him at once and appointed a common man, Channi as Punjab’s CM. Captain was dancing on the tunes of BJP and he ruined future of Punjab.”

Earlier, Rajpura MLA Hardyal Kambhoj welcomed Rahul Gandhi and termed Gandhi a visionary leader.
