Washington: For the first time in fiscal year 2023, the US has decided to provide an additional 64,716 H-2B visas for temporarily unskilled workers so that US businesses can meet their needs in times of greater need.
The H-2B visa allows employers to temporarily hire foreign workers. These workers are invited for non-agricultural activities or services for a limited time which is for a single time as per the seasonal requirement.
Under this visa, workers are also invited as per more or immediate need.
The move, however, is unlikely to have much impact on Indian nationals as most Indians do not apply for this visa. Most Indians coming to the US are highly skilled professionals who work in technical and other positions with expertise in American companies. They apply for H-1B visas.
