Washington: Indian-American attorney Harmeet Dhillon, who is running for chairperson of the Republican National Committee (RNC), has alleged that she is facing harsh words from her own party leaders because she is a Sikh. Harmeet said she will not back down and will continue to be in the race for the top post. Dhillon, 54, has previously served as co-chair of the Republican Party of California. She is pitted against Rona McDaniel for this position of the committee.
“I am very clear that no matter how many threats I or my team receive, or harsh comments on my religion, I will not shy away from a positive change in the National Committee,” Dhillon said.
The Indian-American attorney said she received several threatening tweets on Monday.
Dhillon said she was being threatened by supporters of Rauna, who is in the race for the post. The election for the chairperson of the RNC will be held on July 27.
