Two university professors arrested for sexually abusing girl students in J&K, Hyderabad

New Delhi: A professor of an agricultural university in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district has been arrested by the police after a student alleged sexual harassment, police said. Officials said the professor was arrested late on Friday night.

Authorities suspended the accused and launched an investigation against him after a protest broke out at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology in north Kashmir district.

The students demanded strict action against the accused against the head of the agriculture extension and communication department of the university.

Similarly, a foreign student at the University of Hyderabad has alleged that the professor tried to sexually assault her. The victim, who hails from Thailand, has lodged a complaint at Gachibowli police station under cyberabad police commissionerate.

The police today said they have registered a case against the 69-year-old professor of the Hindi department and launched an investigation. The 23-year-old victim alleged that the professor called her to his office and tried to sexually assault her. She managed to escape.
