Soldier’s five-year-old daughter burnt alive in car in Ferozepur

Chandigarh: The five-year-old daughter of an Army jawan died after being stuck in a car in a road accident on the national highway in Kot Karorh Kalan village in Firozepur District.

His wife and three children were also present at the spot when the incident took place around 7 pm on Sunday. According to details, Gurjit Singh, a resident of Village Kaler in Faridkot, who is now on leave, was returning to his village from Dharamkot in the evening with his wife, three daughters and son on Sunday.

All of them were travelling in the Swift car (PB19A-6969). When the car reached near Kot Karorh village suddenly there was a fault in it. Gurjit was parking the car on the roadside and checking its engine when suddenly the car caught fire. Gurjit’s wife, who was sitting in the back seat, pulled her two daughters and son out of the car, but in the meantime, her five-year-old daughter Tanvir alias Tanu, who was sitting in the front seat of the car, was caught in the fire due to all the windows of the car being locked.

Passersby tried hard to douse the fire but by then it was too late. A case has been registered by Talwandi bhai police station and an investigation has been initiated into the matter.
