SKM expelled farm unions contesting Punjab elections

New Delhi: The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), the umbrella body that led year-long protest against three-farm bills, has expelled farm unions contesting the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls on Saturday.

The SKM expelled Balbir Singh Rajewal from Punjab and Gurnam Singh Charuni from Haryana for forming their political outfit.

Rajewal has formed the Samyukt Samaj Morcha and Charuni floated Samyukt Sangharsh Party to content upcoming polls as an alliance.

Out of 32 farm unions, 22 from Punjab floated the party under the leadership of Rajewal to float the political outfit. Rajewal and Charuni were core committee members of the SKM and this decision was taken by general house meeting organised by the SKM at Singhu border by leaders including Rakesh Tikait, Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Jagjeet Singh Dallewal, Yogendra Yadav and others.
